Energized by colour
Colours have a huge impact on how we perceive our environment, stirring emotions in our brains which energize, relax or inspire us. Clever use of colour in a modern interior concept allows us to be bold, even if the backdrop is understated. In this article I take a closer look at some cool colour combinations by Capper brands - one brand at a time - to inspire you to be bold and creative in your next interior scheme.
First up, +Halle.
+Halle: make a statement
Danish innovators +Halle have developed a strong and confident approach to the use of colour (above). With a wide range of Kvadrat, Maharam and Gabriel collections to choose from, and metal frames in RAL colours of your choosing, you can code your furniture specification in a single colour, or go with a neutral frame coupled with upholstery in a striking accent colour. Or vice versa of course. Tip: check out the HEB table configurator to design your unique colour combo. View the full +Halle collection here.
From Denmark we head to Holland. Arco follows next…
Arco: new palette possibilities
Arco are more well known for their use of beautiful natural woods, than their use of strong colours. But delve deeper and there is a great selection of pastel colour stains in the standard wood collections, allowing any table, chair frame or coffee table to be colour-stained, whilst still revealing it’s beautiful natural wood grain. With a huge fabric selection available, upholstery options are endless. And visitors to Designpost Köln during Orgatec 2024 will be the first to see the 20 year old Slim table collection repositioned with some super fresh colour combinations: Forbo linoleum tops, pared with colour waxed frames. Tip: scroll down to the bottom of the Arco homepage and find the materials section under Downloads. View the full Arco collection here.
From Holland we head up to Sweden, next is Bla Station:
Bla Station: pastel or punchy?
With an extensive furniture and material collection, Bla Station (above) offer a number of ways to introduce colour to your scheme. Wooden frames and table tops can be stained with a custom NCS colour whilst proudly showing their wooden heritage. Metal frames can be painted to a RAL colour of your choice. And endless fabric options. The Bob Sofa looks completely different upholstered in pastel shades than in neutral tones or leather. Acoustic wall panels are offered in a wide range of Camira fabric collections to add cool vibes whilst absorbing noise. And the child-like Max chair simply HAS to be in a bold and vibrant upholstery. Tip: check out the PROJECTS page of the Bla Station website for inspiring references. See the full Bla Station collection here.
Finally we cross the channel to the UK for the Theo collection (below):
THEO: mix stained woods with natural finishes
The unmistakable curved wooden Theo collection demonstrates the possibility of combining natural wood finishes with bold or pastel colour hues. Strong bright accent colours can be used, or more natural tones in combination with natural oak and extensive upholstery collections. Again the wood grain visibly seeps through the colour stains, retaining a connection with nature. Tip: Mixing pastel green stains with natural clear lacquered finishes on Theo furniture creates an almost forest-like feel. View the complete Theo collection here.
Colours are in every aspect of our lives and we are constantly learning more about how the colours around us affect our mindset. We associate colours with different things, such as danger, calm, focus or excitement. It requires careful consideration to combine the right colours to extract the maximum value from them in an interior scheme. Too little use of colour can make a space feel bland, whereas too much bright colour can overwhelm us. As furniture agents it is our role to support interior designers in creating the ideal colour concept for the furniture scheme, making sure samples and materials are available as needed.
Hopefully these highlights have sprinkled a little inspiration into your day that you can keep in mind for your next project. For further information, samples or pricing feel free to get in touch.
